LeafBe

Privacy Policy

Last revised: November 2026

LeafBe works without an account and keeps your plants, photos and notes on your device. The Developer does not collect personal data through the app and never sells personal data.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the LeafBe app, published by an independent developer (the “Developer”). You can send questions and requests to contactus@magicalcoreapp.com.

2. Data collection

The Developer does not collect, store or receive personal data through LeafBe. The app has no analytics, ads, sign-in, or third-party tracking or advertising kits, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. The only personal data the Developer may receive is what you send by email (section 11).

3. Plant identification

The photo you take or choose is analyzed on the device itself, even offline. It is never uploaded to the Developer or shared with third parties.

4. Device permissions

  • Camera: to photograph a leaf, a flower or the whole plant.
  • Location (optional): if you allow it, to save in an observation the place where you made it and to search for nearby gardens and parks. It is never sent to the Developer; for place names and map searches it is shared with the system’s map service (section 7).

Photos from your library are chosen with the system picker, which only shares the images you select. LeafBe does not use the microphone. You can withdraw permissions at any time in the device’s Settings.

5. Information stored in the app

Your journal, with its photos, field notes and places, and your favorites are stored on the device. The Developer has no access to them. If you delete the app, this information is deleted from the device, but not any copies you have exported.

6. Backups to iCloud Drive or Files

You can export a copy of your journal, manually or with the automatic daily backup, to the location you choose in Files or in your personal iCloud Drive. The Developer cannot access those copies.

7. Internet connections

The connection is only used to download public content, such as the photo and summary for the Plant of the Day (from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia), and for place names and the optional search for nearby gardens and parks. Public content services receive the device’s IP address, as any website does. Place names and map searches are handled by the system’s map service, which receives the relevant location or area. No photos, notes or journal entries are included, the Developer does not receive these requests, and those services apply their own privacy policies.

8. Ratings

From time to time, LeafBe may ask you to rate it using the system’s own prompt. This is handled by Apple; the Developer does not receive any of your data as a result.

9. Payments

LeafBe is free to download and includes 3 identifications to try it out. To keep identifying, it is unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment; the Developer does not receive payment or card details. To know how many free identifications you have left, the app keeps a counter on the device itself, which is not sent to anyone.

10. Children

LeafBe is rated for all ages. The Developer does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 or under any other age set by law. Children under 16 should use LeafBe with the consent of a parent or guardian.

11. Emails

If you write to the Developer, your address and message are used only to reply to you, based on the legitimate interest in handling your inquiry, and are kept only as long as needed to resolve it. They are never sold or shared.

12. Your rights

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA and similar laws, you can request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data by writing to the Developer. Apart from any emails you send, the Developer holds no personal data about LeafBe users. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

13. Changes to this policy

Any changes will be posted on this page, with the revision date updated.
